Grant Street Group and City of Baltimore Continue Online Auctions

March 2, 2009

Pittsburgh, PA (March 2, 2009) — Following a successful three-year pilot program, the City of Baltimore will continue to conduct online tax sales using www.BidBaltimore.com, a website powered by Grant Street Group (GSG). Since the site’s launch in 2006, the City has sold more than 30,000 certificates, collecting $56 million in delinquent taxes.

Janice Simmons, Deputy Chief, Bureau of Revenue Collections for the City of Baltimore said “The City of Baltimore has benefited significantly since contracting with GSG to provide our Web based tax sale in 2006. The automation provided by GSG has streamlined the tax sale process and has reduced the manual labor intensive effort of our staff. The City has been extremely satisfied with the efficiency of the website as well as the excellent customer service that GSG has always provided.”

BidBaltimore.com serves as a single source for sale information. Users can research liens online, as well as review the sale schedule, notices and rules.

Bidders submit sealed bids through the website. Results are available immediately following the close of the sale. Winning bids and all bid submissions are listed for each lien.

“We are really pleased with the City’s success using of BidBaltimore.com. They had ideas to improve their process with technology, and we were able to build the site around those ideas,” said Dave Dering, Grant Street Group’s LienAuction Product Manager.
